May 2012 Announcements

A few short announcements:
5-29-2012: Over the next few weeks we will be converting all of our shared hosting servers from SuPHP security model to mod_ruid2 with a PHP accelerator. What does this mean for you, it means better performance for website without sacrificing security.

Mod_ruid2 is an Apache extension that allows requests to a domain to run as the owner of that domain, instead of the Apache user. It is similar to suEXEC and suPHP, but applies to all HTTP requests,

The only changes you may notice is running custom php directives there will be no more php.ini configuration changes all custom PHP directives will be handled via your .htaccess. We will be scanning your php.ini files and converting them to .htaccess directives. We do not expect any issues during this conversion if your php scripts are up2date, most modern php scripts will run on either SuPhp or Mod_PHP without issues. If you have an issue please feel free to open a support ticket and we will correct it for you.

Managed Dedicated Server & Managed VPS clients we will not make any changes without you asking for the changes. If are running Mod_PHP or SuPHP and wish to switch to mod_ruid2 please open a support ticket with your specific requirements.

NOTE: mod_ruid2 is not compatible with the following Apache modules

cache_module

disk_cache_module

mod_mem_cache

mpm_worker_module

mpm_event_module

mpm_leader_module

mpm_perchild_module
