Oct 1, 2021, update from Dec 9, 2020, “CentOS Changing their scope”.
· The future of the CentOS Project is CentOS Stream, and over the next year we’ll be shifting focus from CentOS Linux, the rebuild of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), to CentOS Stream, which tracks just ahead of a current RHEL release. CentOS Linux 8, as a rebuild of RHEL 8, will end at the end of 2021. CentOS Stream continues after that date, serving as the upstream (development) branch of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
· For those of you who have been waiting for cPanel to Support Centos 8 Do not bother Centos 7 life cycle is longer.
· The Good News if you are already using Centos 8 CloudLinux is releasing its own open source Based off RedHat Enterprise in early 2021. It will have one command conversion for inbox OS switch.
· As of Mar 30, 2021 AlmaLinux OS Stable Release was released based of RedHat Linux 8. Both cPanel & DirectAdmin both support it. Of our Free control panels webmin, CenotOS web Panel, & ISPconfig should all work but it is untested.
· As of Aug 24, 2021 AlmaLinux is our default choice for
· October 19, 2021 AlmaLinux Announces ELevate Project to Migrate or Upgrade Any Red Hat Enterprise Linux-based Distribution. CentOS 7 to AlmaLinux 8, Untested but should work on all variations except cpanel.
